QimmiQ is a dogsledding adventure game for the Oculus Rift.
The game places you on the Arctic plains together with your pack of huskies and your wooden sleigh. Use a gamepad or motion controller to spur the dogs and pick up speed, going fast enough to be able to cross cracks in the ice.
Interaction Sketches
Positional tracking
The Oculus Rift DK2 comes with a tracking camera, that allows the user to move around and be tracked in 3D space.
Steering
Riding and controlling a dog sled is about stability while riding the uneven snow and ice. The positional tracking of the Oculus Rift allows you to lean left and right, make sure you don’t tip over!
Concept art
When night falls you use the controller to scare off hungry wolves, waving around your burning torch. If things get too tense, you can use your controller to control a spear to fence off your attackers. Can you make it to camp?
